SOUND LIKE YOU?

On the outside, it might look like you’re holding everything together—but inside, using weed feels less like a choice and more like something you rely on.

If you’ve tried to cut back but keep coming back to it at the end of a long day, or you’re starting to question whether it’s actually helping the way it used to, marijuana use therapy can help.

you’re not alone in this.

Marijuana use can take many forms, and it doesn’t always look like a “problem” from the outside. It might start as a way to relax, sleep, or manage stress—especially if you’re already dealing with underlying anxiety. If that resonates, Anxiety Therapy might also be a helpful place to explore how these patterns connect. But over time, it can begin to feel harder to step away from.

You might notice yourself relying on it more than you’d like, or feeling unsure about how it’s impacting your mood, motivation, or relationships. Even if things look fine on the surface, something internally can feel just a little off.

Attempts to cut back or set limits don’t always go the way you expect. And that can leave you feeling stuck between “this helps me” and “this might be hurting me.”

If you’re questioning your relationship with marijuana, that’s enough of a reason to explore it. Many clients start in a similar place through Sober Curious Therapy, where the focus is on curiosity first and foremost.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. I offer a space to understand what’s going on, build awareness, and move toward a relationship with marijuana that feels more intentional and aligned.

This therapy service is part of a broader set of services we offer supporting substance use, anxiety, and self-trust.

Therapy for weed misuse New York City & New Jersey

Those things that used to help you feel better? They’re not working like they used to.

This space is for young adults in New York and New Jersey who are:

  • Using marijuana daily or almost daily and feeling unsure about it

  • Sober curious and wanting to explore cutting back

  • Noticing increased anxiety, low motivation, or emotional numbness

  • Using weed to cope with stress, sleep, or difficult emotions

  • Feeling stuck between “this helps me” and “this might be hurting me”

Whether you’re just starting to question your use or already trying to make changes, therapy can offer clarity, structure, and support.

My therapeutic approach is…

VIRTUAL THERAPY FOR WEED DEPENDENCE

  • I take a client-centered approach that meets you exactly where you are. You don’t need to label your use or have a clear goal to start. This is a space where you can explore honestly, without pressure or judgment.

My priority is to create a space where you feel safe enough to look at what’s really going on and figure out what you actually want.

  • We use DBT skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Many people use marijuana to manage stress or discomfort. I’ll help you build tools so you’re not relying on it as your only way to cope.

This approach is also used in work around substance use and emotional regulation more broadly, including Alcohol Recovery Therapy and sober curious work.

  • We’ll explore patterns in your thoughts and behaviors—especially the ones that keep you feeling stuck.

This might include noticing triggers, challenging all-or-nothing thinking, and building more flexible, supportive ways of responding.

This approach is also used in work around substance use and emotional regulation more broadly, including Alcohol Recovery Therapy and sober curious work.

  • We’ll also look deeper at the emotional roots of your use.

That can include past experiences, relationships, and patterns that shape how you cope. Understanding these layers can help create more lasting change.

Challenges we’ll tackle…

Marijuana dependence or habitual use

Anxiety and overthinking

Emotional avoidance or numbing

Low motivation or feeling stuck

Sleep difficulties without weed usage

Social anxiety or discomfort

Shame or confusion about substance use

You don’t need to experience all of these to benefit from therapy. If something feels off in your relationship with marijuana, that’s enough.

Growth you’ll gain…

Reduce or change your marijuana use (if that’s your goal)

Feel less dependent on weed to cope

Strengthen self-trust and decision-making

Build tools for stress, anxiety, and sleep

Feel more present and clear-headed

Understand emotional triggers behind use

For some, this overlaps with patterns around alcohol or other substances as well. You can learn more about that here: Alcohol Recovery Therapy.

Over time, many clients report feeling more in control of their choices and more connected to their core, authentic selves. Perfection isn’t expected. Rather, we will work collaboratively to help you slowly but surely feel more like yourself without needing something else to get there.

Hi, I’m Kendall.

As someone who understands how complex substance use can be, I know this isn’t just about stopping or cutting back. It’s about understanding what the behavior is doing for you—and what you actually need underneath it.

In therapy, I don’t push or try to force change. I approach your story with curiosity, honesty, and work to create space to empower you to figure out what feels right for you. Whether you’re exploring full sobriety or just questioning your weed use, your goals are respected here. Your story is held with care.

  • Sessions are 45 minutes and held virtually. We usually begin with a check-in to see how your week has been and explore any immediate challenges. From there, we might explore patterns, talk through recent situations, or practice tools for managing stress or urges.

  • In our first few sessions, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and exploring what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your relationship with marijuana, how it’s impacted your life, and what you hope will feel different in the future.

  • As therapy progresses, we’ll move into deeper work such as building coping tools, understanding your triggers, and finding new ways to respond to stress, cravings, or shame. Sessions might include emotion regulation skills, preparation for social events, or unpacking past experiences that shaped your relationship with weed.

  • Over time, we’ll revisit your goals and track what’s shifting. You might notice more emotional stability, stronger boundaries, or fewer urges to use. Some changes feel big, others more subtle — all matter.

There’s no straight line in this process. But together, we’ll build a steady path forward, one that centers your growth, your voice, and your version of recovery.

A few more things to know about working together

01

Adapting to Your Needs

Therapy is entirely virtual, so you can access support from anywhere in New York or New Jersey. I understand that life is busy, and therapy should work with your schedule, not against it. Whether you’re balancing work, caregiving, school, or just trying to make it through the week, we’ll find a rhythm that fits.

02

A Collaborative Process

Therapy works best when it’s collaborative. You bring your story, your insight, and your questions. I bring my training, tools, and experience. Together, we’ll create a space where change feels possible and sustainable. We’ll revisit your goals regularly, talk through what’s working, and adjust as needed. You’re never expected to carry this alone.

03

Special Considerations

Please note: I do not provide mandated treatment or medical detox services. If you are in need of detox or higher-level care, I’m happy to refer you to trusted providers who can support that step in your journey.

Let’s get started.

Because change is possible.
